Our community - Mission statements

The mission, our reason for being

Our community exists because of its mission. Its mission is not limited to apostolic activity. On the contrary, it defines our identity and our becoming, according to the Holy Spirit who called us forth in the Church. Our mission statement helps us understand this better.

« We, the Sisters of Charity of Saint-Hyacinthe, called to continue the mission of Christ in the footsteps of Marguerite d’Youville, want to be women of hope, witnesses to the Father’s tenderness, alongside our brothers and sisters hurt by life.

Together, we consecrate our lives to the Lord in order to work, according to the spirit of the Beatitudes, to alleviate human suffering in collaboration with those women and men in society and in the Church who pursue the same objectives.

Our apostolic mission, centred on the Gospel and sustained by a deep relationship with God and surrender to his Providence, seeks to already manifest that the kingdom of love and of mercy has come to earth. »

How de we actualize this mission?

Our Community exists for its mission. This mission is not limited to apostolic activity, but rather it defines our identity. Our mission statement is as follows:

« We, the Sisters of Charity of Saint-Hyacinthe, called to continue the mission of Christ in the footsteps of Marguerite d’Youville, want to be women of hope, witnesses to the Father’s tenderness alongside our brothers and sisters hurt by life.

Together, we consecrate our lives to the Lord in order to work, according to the spirit of the Beatitudes, to alleviate human suffering in collaboration with those women and men in society and in the Church who pursue the same objectives.

Our apostolic mission, centered on the Gospel and sustained by a deep relationship with God and surrender to his Providence, seeks to already manifest that the kingdom of love and of mercy has come to earth. »

How do we articulate our mission?

In our Rule of Life, our Constitutions and Rules, we articulate our mission as follows:

« The Sisters of Charity work towards a true promotion of human and social conditions and remain available to undertake the works that Providence chooses for them in order to comfort the poor. »

(Const. #24)

Our vision, a source of dynamism for mission

Desiring to keep our mission alive, we sisters carry the vision together. The vision stimulates  and becomes  for us a source of dynamism in identifying our priorities and commitments for mission. Our vision statement is articulate as follows:

« Together, in the Spirit, nurturing life in all its fullness »
